California:
Doing Well by Doing Good
Zach’s Wax zoomed onto the salon and fund raising scene in
California just a few short months ago and immediately started
playing in the 'big leagues’. The Dallas Cowboy training camp
in Oxnard, Make-a-Wish fundraisers with Southern California
Supercuts, and the giant KidFest in Ventura. Just the
right places for this new ‘kid-cool’ new temporary hair color in
a gel to be.
Zach’s Wax President, Eric Plahn started the company after 15
years experience selling for Maly’s in Southern California.
Zach’s Wax is a five color line of temporary hair color gels in
pink, blue, yellow, green, red with an additional colorless
holding gel. A one-ounce tube colors a minimum of two heads and
the new line is named after the Plahns' 9-year-old son, Zach who
usually likes sporting his team colors for soccer or baseball
games, often with a mohawk or spiked hair. His sister, Lezly, 8,
prefers pink or orange streaked "highlights". And, moms love the
fact that the colors wash right out in one shampoo and doesn’t
stain clothes or irritate skin.
What’s makes Zach’s Wax so unusual? Eric and his wife Joy
knew that kids, moms and salon professionals had something
important in common . . . all of them had big hearts when it
came to helping others in need and this family owned company
established its unusual policy of donating 10% of every sale to
a charity matching the color in the tube. Pink for Breast
Cancer, Blue for Make-A-Wish Foundation, Yellow for Livestrong,
Green for Care Net, Red for Aids Research and its Firm
Hold Clear Gel is for a hospital in Mozambique. Apparently
they were right about those kids, moms and salon pros because
they have all been flocking to the concept of ‘coloring people’s
lives while ‘temporarily’ coloring their hair. At $6.00 a tube,
Zach’s Wax is flying off shelves.
The company will also manufacture special order colors for
groups and organizations with corporate or team color
requirements and envisions schools and other organizations using
Zach’s Wax as a fund raising tool for their own needs again with
the company’s commitment to its adopted charities on every sale.
