HONORED BY SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS (SCC)
WITH TWO AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE

Huntington Beach, CA – YG Laboratories' president, Rebecca James Gadberry, received dual honors recently from the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) and the California Chapter of the Society at their annual Awards Dinner held in Santa Monica, CA. The California Chapter recognized Ms Gadberry's paper, "The Ongoing Quest to Discover the Etiology of Rosacea with Implications for the Cosmetic Developer," as the "Outstanding Paper for 2003". The SCC recognized Ms Gadberry's presentation of her paper as the "Chapter Speaker of 2003". Ms Gadberry received the award from Robert Saute, Ph.D., Chairman of the California awards program and Member Emeritus of the Society. According to Ms Gadberry, "This is a special honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization and especially to receive these awards from Dr. Saute, who has had a strong influence on my professional interest in cosmetic ingredients and their effective application in skin care products during the past 30 years."

Rosacea—a chronic skin condition exemplified by persistent redness brought on by flushing or blushing—affects more than 14 million Americans, making it one of the five most diagnosed disorders by U.S. dermatologists. If left untreated, over time Rosacea can result in the appearance of red lines that result from swollen or damaged veins, papules and pustules resembling acne, and in advanced cases, facial swelling and malformation of the nose. Ms Gadberry's paper explored the implications for cosmetic developers, possible cosmetic solutions that may surpass drug therapies for this disease, as well as identifying over 150 ingredients in current drugs or cosmetics that are suspected rosacea triggers.
