Jerry Tyler Elected President of

For the second time in consecutive meetings, California’s Board of
Cosmetology met with Board officer elections on the agenda. At the
Board’s first meeting in February, Board members re-elected then current
President, Dr. Della Condon and Vice-President, Joe Gonzalez.
However, after re-evaluating the California legislature’s concerns
about the Board’s performance over the past two years, the Board
convened a second officer's election and named industry member Jerry
Tyler as the new President and non-industry member Richard Hedges as
Vice-President. Early on Tyler’s long list of priorities is to help the Board become a better communicator . . . with industry, the Administration and the Legislature. Tyler says, “The Board has been mute with those it serves as well as those that govern it and that has to change. We must have industry input from diverse industry experts, and establish respectful lines of communication with the Legislature and the Administration.” Carlton Hair International President, James O’Regan says of Tyler, ”Jerry has been a licensed stylist for over 30 years and a licensed instructor for over 25 years. I have know him personally for twenty years as a man with a great heart and an unbounded passion for this business and his students, our stylists. As Carlton’s Director of Education, he champions the development and growth of others and tirelessly volunteers his time to the betterment of the industry. I can’t imagine anyone more qualified to help us all move forward as President of the Board of Barbering & Cosmetology.” Mr. Tyler and Mr. Hedges assumed their new roles immediately upon completion of the election. ### |
