CALIFORNIA $6 BILLION BEAUTY INDUSTRY
BRINGS "BEAUTY TO POLITICS" AT LONG BEACH CONV. CENTER:
5000+ ATTEND CALIFORNIA SALON & SPA EXPO ("THE FALL SHOW")

Long Beach, CA – It was a terrific 'show for all the right reasons’ at the Long Beach Convention Center on Oct. 6-7, as the Professional Beauty Federation of California’s (PBFC) new "California Salon & Spa Expo" ('The Fall Show’) opened its doors in the ever popular venue in Long Beach, CA. With 5,266 ticket stubs counted by the end of the second day and feedback forms from both attendees and exhibitors giving the show high marks, the PBFC is very proud of what has been accomplished. Appearing at a special "Meet the Industry" event at the show was Assemblyman Lou Correa, Chairman of the Assembly’s Business & Professions Committee, through which all beauty industry state legislation must pass.

PBFC Board Chairman Ted Nelson said: "The show was quite a success and many of this year’s exhibitors have already booked their space for next year. We are moving into the main "A" Hall at the convention center where we are offering an additional 15,000 square feet of exhibit space as well as additional classrooms. It was very gratifying to see all the classes well attended and our exhibitors happy. The quality of the show was self-evident. We had some of the industry’s top hair, nail and esthetics educators in the classrooms and all the education was free, included for the cost of a $25 ticket (no 'extra charge’ for classes and CEU credits offered to cosmetology educators). Our featured artists’ main stage theater presentations were world-class. We even offered the industry’s first educational 'Pro-Gold’ give-away package to attendees worth $25,000...this show was education full-circle."

Nelson continued: "It is important that everyone understands how crucial it is for our industry to have a strong voice in the State Capitol, and that every penny earned from this show’s ticket sales will be used to grow and improve the beauty industry specifically in California." Nelson added that the PBFC is 'extremely grateful’ to its exhibitors for their participation and show of support for their industry. He also thanked TTCB Events Management for 'doing what they do so well...produce a great industry show’.

Next year, PBFC’s California Salon & Spa Expo will be held on October 19-20, 2003 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
